| My Interview at the World Horror Con Check out the following video link for my interview with MindFlesh director Robert Pratten at the World Horror Con in Toronto. The interview covers the subject of adapting my novel White Light to the screen. You can see the interview at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MshwjLfueY or on my website. MindFlesh Update: Rough Cut While at the convention, I saw a special screening of a rough cut of MindFlesh. “Rough cut” basically means the movie seen raw, as it was shot and edited, but without special effects or music added. In the raw, I found the film extremely watchable, with all the story elements of Robert’s clever script coming through loud and clear. I think he’s really captured the spirit of White Light quite well. The addition of a score, sound effects, and visual effects, will elaborate the film’s supernatural core. I’m really excited about seeing the finished product. I’ll keep subscribers posted when more news becomes available. Raptures Update I am totally indebted to my astute readers, who gave me fantastic feedback on Raptures. I would say offhand that I followed the suggestions of about 80% of what they recommended. Writing is a solitary craft, true, but few novels are ever written alone. Thank you, generous readers, for all your advice and support! Re-writing of the novel is going well, if slowly. I lost a few weeks to travel and illness. Still planning on a complete revision by the end of May. Guerrilla Marketing at World Horror Con Through no fault of my own, I found myself to be accidentally locked out of the pitch session scheduling at this year’s con. Since pitch sessions are an important part of a con for unpublished novelists like myself, the convention seemed to be a non-starter before I even arrived. Luckily, life is more open than “official” schedules and protocols and personalities would dictate. A chance encounter in the hotel lounge lead me to an editor who was pleased to hear my pitch. Although I only managed to pitch one editor, instead of two or three as might be normal, it was still a good recovery, and a reminder to me that you go to cons because you never know what might happen or who you might meet. After all, it was at another World Horror Con in Phoenix a few years back that I made the acquaintance of filmmaker Robert Pratten. Wasn’t it Woody Allen who said that “95% of life is just showing up”? Now You Can Visit Me at MySpace I've just put up a MySpace page. The address is myspace.com/williamscheinman.
